Compact Designs, Inc. (CDI), the parent company of AmbientNAV, provides the resources to bring a unique blend of products needed in the marine industry. This industry has been very slow to adapt new technology, especially in the LCD arena (more on this). Because CDI has an excellent optics and LCD background, it was only natural to bring generationally improved products to the marine industry in the form of LCD displays. Starting back in 2003 with the first generation of highly viewable LCD displays, CDI has consistently progressed with better optics, enclosures, and designs culminating in the 2008 release of the Alpha line. 
AmbientNAV is dedicated to not only bringing new and improved products to the marine industry but also providing the support and longevity needed for this highly demanding segment. Combining multi-year warranties, design for manufacturability, service life design, and product life cycle improvement into our products ensures your receive the very best product – and it works.

We internally house research and design facilities allowing us to develop from concept to final design, products engineered specifically for the marine environment. Utilizing software tools that allow full analysis of environmental, metallurgical, structural, and optical, we design for the intended us in the intended environment.
LCD optics had evolved greatly over the last 5-10 years. Unfortunately for many in the marine industry, the players have not. AmbientNAV is committed to bringing optically superior products to you. Our Alpha line of monitors is generationally ahead of the others in image presentation and operation in ambient light.
